Safety over schedule
No lesson objective, booking, or cost takes priority over a safe decision.
Fly With Angus policies
Straightforward policies for scheduling, cancellations, weather, payment, aircraft responsibilities, and safe flight training.
Version 1.0 · Effective July 27, 2026
Contact me promptly when plans, weather, or aircraft availability change.
Bring the required documents, preparation, and equipment for the lesson.
A lesson can be changed or stopped whenever safety requires it.
How these policies work
These policies are intended to make training predictable while leaving room for the realities of aviation. Weather changes, airplanes break, and genuine emergencies happen. Good communication matters more than rigid box-checking.
No lesson objective, booking, or cost takes priority over a safe decision.
Any applicable rate or cancellation charge will be communicated through the booking process or directly before it is incurred.
When flying is not practical, a lesson may be delayed, modified, or converted to useful ground instruction.
Scheduling
Flight and ground instruction is available by appointment and subject to instructor availability.
Cancellations & no-shows
Cancel or reschedule as soon as you know you cannot make a lesson. Earlier notice gives that time back to another student.
Cancellation policyAny cancellation charge applicable to a booking is available to view in the Cancellation and Payment Policy. Genuine emergencies and unusual circumstances will be considered individually.
A student who expects to be late should contact me as soon as practical. The lesson may still need to end at its original time when another appointment follows.
A no-show is a missed appointment without reasonable advance notice. No-shows may incur fees, view more in the Cancellation and Payment Policy.
Weather & operations
Training decisions consider the student, lesson objectives, aircraft, airport, weather, and reasonable safety margins — not regulatory minimums alone.
A flight may be delayed, relocated, shortened, converted to ground instruction, or canceled when conditions are unsuitable.
Maintenance, discrepancies, scheduling conflicts, or aircraft condition may change a planned lesson with little notice.
Students will not be pressured to fly in conditions they are uncomfortable accepting, and the instructor may decline a flight whenever safety warrants.
When practical, a canceled flight can become ground instruction covering planning, systems, regulations, weather, or another training objective.
Aircraft & third parties
Unless expressly agreed otherwise, students arrange legal access to an appropriate aircraft for training.
I may decline to operate or instruct in an aircraft when I have concerns about its condition, documentation, loading, fuel, equipment, limitations, or another safety issue.
Fees & payment
Unless specifically stated otherwise, Fly With Angus fees cover instructional services only.
Current rates are established by the Fly With Angus fee schedule or the price shown when the service is booked. Accounts that become overdue may need to be brought current before additional training is scheduled.
Safety & fitness for flight
A safe training environment depends on honest communication, good judgment, and immediate respect for a stop decision.
Students should not participate in flight training when alcohol, drugs, fatigue, illness, injury, medication effects, severe emotional distress, or another condition could impair safe performance.
The instructor may stop a maneuver, direct a go-around, change the operation, take control, terminate a flight, or decline to continue training when necessary for safety.
When aircraft control is transferred, both people should use clear positive exchange-of-controls procedures whenever practicable.
Questions before a lesson?
